Author Frank Caruso is a retired police officer who served for 23 years in southern California law enforcement beginning in 1989. Mr. Caruso has worked for the Cities of Fullerton, Garden Grove and Irvine. During his 23 year career, he held a variety of positions that included Patrol, Field Training Officer (FTO), Master Officer, DARE Instructor, Gang Officer/Investigator, Arrest and Baton Instructor, Traffic Motor Officer, and Fatal Traffic Collision Investigator. He also received many commendations and Awards which included a 1st place Shooting Award, three Community Policing Awards, a Golden Pen Award from the Orange County Register Newspaper, 300 Citizen commendations, a Meritorious Service Award, California State Senate and State Assembly Awards, and a Civil Rights Award from the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Author Caruso holds an Associate of Arts degree in Administration of Justice and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
Illustrator Irene Williams is recently retired sixth-grade
teacher from the Garden Grove Unified School District in Garden Grove,
California. During her 30-year career, Ms. Williams instructed students
at every grade level, including members of the Gifted and Talented
Education program. She also taught an after-school art program for
gifted young artists, whose artwork has been displayed in various
exhibits throughout California. Ms. Williams, who holds a Master of
Arts degree in Speech Communications, has received the PTA Honorary
Service Award and was nominated for the esteemed American Teacher
Award.
